This is the opening post on the Big Mac 2019 event. I will post again in much more detail at the end of next week after I have met with the manager of Windermere Marina Village and the wardens at Ferry Nab marina, next week.
An expression of interest on this forum would be helpful for numbers.
So far, apart from myself and Nicola, I think Roly and Ros, Rick and Glenys, Rod and Jill, Mick and Maureen, David K, John P, are all likely to attend.
Save the date if you can, let us know if you are interested and I will publish full details next week.
Spring is in the air.

Our boat is on derwent water (Keswick) but we'd love to pop over to meet you all, put faces to names and get ideas from what everyone else has done to their boats to make them better
We'll pop over on Saturday, any ideas what the visitor parking options will be?
Will keep an eye out for any updates to Saturday's program of events

Hi Stephen, pleased you are thinking of joining us on Saturday. Arrangements are loose at this stage and may remain so but the outline plan at the moment, for Saturday, is to welcome any visitors late morning/afternoon to meet, sail, walk, chat, stare at boats etc and to have a bbq starting late afternoon, early evening using the marina's bbq area. I will send you my mobile number....call anytime or text me your plans. Look forward to seeing you. Regards, Quentin

Re parking....if we have a code that works the gate I reckon there will be no harm done sharing it with visitors - you will no doubt use the facilities and bring some trade. There should be parking within the marina. If this doesn't work, Ferry Nab car park has room most of the time and is 2 minute walk away.

I would like to wish the Windermere flotilla a safe trip to the Lake District and a fabulous couple of weeks sailing, eating, drinking and fun.
Well done, Quentin, for organising this.

Thank you Simon.
Something to occupy travellers on the journey to W'mere. I am attaching the bar/lounge menu for Storrs Hall. We are eating in the restaurant but we can order from this menu as it is cheaper - although I wouldn't call it cheap - than the restaurant menu. They would like us to pre-order starters and mains. If you prefer to sample the restaurant menu, you can see a typical menu on Storrs Hall website. If there are specific unusual dietry requests, please let me know.
I think the Chinese 'banquet' on Thursday will be a bit of everything. I will find out more on Wednesday.
If any one was wondering, there is a chandlery v close to the marina and a second one in Bowness.
Good luck with travel. Do call if you need anything, my mobile number can be found in members area of website.

Just a quick post to say how much myself and Nicola enjoyed the Big Mac this week. A great group of people to spend time with and some very good sailing too. I wondered whether seven days on Windermere was going to be a bit of a stretch but, not at all, we filled the time well. There were ten boats and crew for the whole week and welcome visits from other Mac members. Nicola and I enjoyed several convivial social events with the whole group but we had plenty of time to ourselves and I was pleased with the way our sailing skills and teamwork developed. There were several boats in the group with little or no experience with their Mac and for them, I think, the venue was ideal and they will go away with increased confidence in their boats and in their own sailing skills. For the more experienced sailors there were plenty of opportunities to raise the pulse with different sail plans and some colourful spinnaker action. Thank you for everyone who made the effort to attend, you all added to its success. To any members out there who have thought about attending Association events but haven't quite got it together, I would say 'go for it' - you will meet good people, you will have fun and the sailing will, if the weather is kind, be excellent.
Keep an eye on the Association Events area of the forum for details of next years' Big Mac, same time of year, somewhere in the south, precise date and venue to be confirmed as soon as possible.

Fantastic event on Windermere - well done everyone and thanks to Quentin and Nic for great organisation.
Agree with everything Quentin says - if you are out there with a Mac then you already know how much fun they are - there's only one thing better and that's sailing a Mac in company with other Mac enthusiasts!

I agree also. Lynn and I had a great time on our maiden sailing of our 26X. Lots of help and support from people. I learned many better ways to do things and it was also great to have a nosey about looking at other peoples boats to see how they have set them up.
Of course, it was the Lake District so it rained a bit but that didn't get in the way too much!
I hope to be there next year. Already in my diary.

Yep, couldn’t agree more. A well organised event, thanks to Quentin & Nik and a great social event with the choice of joining in or doing your own thing no pressure. Just a note on Quentin’s organised walk: great fun for a medium walk Quentin. If you offer a hard walk do you supply the mountaineering ropes and picks or do we have to bring our own?(haha)
Really did have a great time and thanks for everyone’s help and advice on maiden voyage in our Mac, just a shame that Pilchard had so much bad luck. Looking forward to next year.
