END SEASON - October - Portugal

Hi

We received some emails asking more information about this...
And yes we will try to give it a GO.

- - - - - - - - -

I am a Mac owner since 1998 my Boat is "Ariane" and I am UKMOA member.
2 years ago, I created a small charter company that fortunately is being very successful (we are almost fully booked for this spring and summer). At the moment we have 4 Macs that we charter on the Douro River Valley Waterway.
Because we are also Mac Owners we really want to have some fun with our UKMOA friends.

The idea is very simple, get into an air-plane in October and we have 4 boats waiting for you.
Sail for a week, have fun and fly back to the UK.

This will be a non-profit initiative (we still have to calculate the cost per boat).
But for a start, we want to make things very clear, any profit will go to UKMOA on an advertising deal yet to establish.
For legal purposes this will be a normal charter deal with insurances, licenses, etc... (except for the price).
The idea is very simple each participant will individually charter a boat and participate with it in a UKMOA Rally.
We will try to make the price as low as possible.

We need to get definitive dates as soon as possible so please think about this and let us know by answering to this post.

SOME QUESTIONS:

1 - Are you interested ?
2 - How many days should it be (1 week ?)
3 - What dates exactly ?
4 - Questions ?

We believe that it will be an end of season to remember…

Re: END SEASON - October - Portugal

Hello Jose,

Jean and i definitely interested in this and prepared to make firm booking if it's all going ahead. 8th-14th October would be fine, although we would prefer to travel out on the 6th or 7th. Presumably flight to Porto is best for travel?

Look forward to hearing from you.

Re: END SEASON - October - Portugal

OK

So 8 to 14 October will be... :)

We better start confirm presences to get low cost on airways tickets.

Ryanair fly from several UK airports to Porto.

From Porto central train station you have a direct train to our base.

From airport to the station you have a direct underground line...

Best regards

Jose

Re: END SEASON - October - Portugal

Thanks, Jose. Not too keen on Ryanair and Stansted airport is on the wrong side of London for us. Easyjet seems to have very suitable flights at £89 return from Gatwick (Travelsupermarket.com). We would definitely prefer to travel on Sundays 7th (dep Gatwick 12.55, arr Porto 15.20) and 14th (dep Porto 15.50 arr Gatwick 18.00). We can easily find alternative overnight accommodation in or around Porto for Sunday 7th if the boat is not available till next day.

Regards

Bill

Re: END SEASON - October - Portugal

Jose,

We're going to come. We plan to spend some additional time in the area either side of the boating week so haven't decided on flights yet.

Bill, Jean. Look forward to seeing you and hope the weather is better than you had in Scotland this time last year. Lynn is back in a sling. The operation she'd just had when we saw you wasn't successful and she's just had another more extensive one. Hope it will be fully recovered by October.
Best wishes.

Dennis

Re: END SEASON - October - Portugal

Hello Dennis & Lyn,

Great to sail with you again and we do hope that Lyn's arm is fully recovered by October. Re weather - we are relying on there being an improvement on last year's venture, although that was most enjoyable despite........!

Best wishes

Bill & Jean

Re: END SEASON - October - Portugal

Bill Jean,

Yes last year in the Clyde was a bit blowy. You picked the wrong year. This year over pretty well the same period we had mediterranean weather. 29C at Lochgoil a couple of days ago. Overcast today so now it's midge heaven.
Looking forward to the Douro.

Best wishes
Dennis & Lynn
