I have booked into Windermere Marina Village for two nights with Nicola and the dog - luxury. Arriving early Sunday, departing Tuesday at at time depending on weather. Have reserved a visitor mooring. Will sail Sunday and Monday...if it is not too cold. Happy to hook up with any Macs in the vicinity.

Hi Quintin

Hi Quintin

Nice to hear your plans for the weekend, I hope the weather is kind to you.

I laid up ASHANTI earlier this week after 3 weeks on the upper reaches of the Medway - interesting and nice for the grandkids going through locks an mooring at pubs but not sailing !!

Im presently sitting by the pool in Tenerife where it’s been 25C today and I’ve been reading PBO and remembering our trip to Burnham

Hope someone teams up with you

Best Regards

John

John, good to hear from you

John, good to hear from you and looking forward to reading your Big Mac account in the soon to arrive Mac Mag. I see you've been doing some exciting stuff this year and get the feeling you will be sticking with your Mac for a while longer - I look forward to future gatherings. Don't get too sunburnt!

Hi Quentin,

Hi Quentin, Helena rose is in storage, just to the north near carlisle. I have considered windermere village for the 2019 season, but mooring charges for several months seems quite expensive. Ullswater seems to be be more economical. having stated that, i checked out whitehaven marina this past week on the coast. do you have any local knowledge of that area?

Hi Peter, I know Ullswater is

Hi Peter, I know Ullswater is a lovely lake and probably a cheaper option but I imagine the sailing options are fewer simply because it is smaller. Permanent marina berthing is beyond my means; swinging moorings on Windermere are about £1000 a year and I could advise you more on specific locations. The Wardens office will let you know about availability - there's usually a few available. For the cost of your mooring you can use the Ferry Nab marina showers etc Whitehaven is an amazing location 'though rather isolated and a little bit fodbidding - good if you are an adventurous sailor and fancy trips to the Isle of Man and the Solway ports in Scotland. If I lived where you do I'd consider Largs or thereabouts. You can leave your boat fully rigged on the hard and they will launch it for you when you need it. Great sailing from Largs. Let me know if you need more specific info about Windermere, I've been there for seven years and haven't got bored with it.

Hi Quentin,

Hi Quentin,

Excellent info. I think the best thing I can do is perhaps have a month in each location. (Thats the reason i love the MAC, its on a trailer!) I do not know the area, as i just keep helena rose in that area, as i found a very good storage location. (ie: secure, under cover, 50 pounds a month.) if anyone interested in this storage location, let me know, and i will pass on details. I will possibly contact you at a later date, if i may, if i require further info about windemere. thanks, have a nice day.
