Newsletter/Magazine, Spring '21, No. 106

Forums:

Hello everyone,

Further to Roly's review of Saturday's Zoom meeting, I'd like to briefly expand on his point about the next Newsletter. As Editor, I am hoping to establish a routine of two MacGregor Sailor's each year, one in the Spring and one in the Autumn. I imagine it will be easier to find copy for the Autumn edition, reporting on everyone's summer adventures. The Spring edition might be trickier. PLEASE can I ask you all to consider any contribution you could possibly make.

Sail valeting

Forums:

I would like to get my main and jib valeted this winter, and possibly get my old, beat-up genoa looked at. Has anyone a sail loft on the East coast that they would reccommend? Also, how many of you have added a second reef to your stock MacGregor mainsail?

Moving my boat to Essex

Forums:

Hi guys

I just bought a MacGregor. No trailer. We sailed it over from Cowes to Lymington Marina on Sunday. Now I need to get it trailered back to Essex.

I've contacted a couple of guys offering transport on ebay but thought I'd try here at the owners club too.

Any help appreciated. If someone in the club can do it (obviously I'll pay) or knows someone

My number is 07808 253553

Cheers

Rob

Boat Sold

Forums:

Hello All,

Just to announce that I have now completed the sale of my 26M 'Sonny' to Anatol Just, who will keep her at Poole Harbour. He confirms his intention to join the association and I'll be helping him learn some of the characteristics of sailing Sonny over the next few weeks and I'm sure that local members will be offering him the usual Mac welcome.

Trailer Storage

Forums:

My new purchase comes with a trailer. I am lucky enough to have a residential mooring in Port Solent but the trailer seemed like a bonus. Then I started trying to find somewhere to store it. The marina wanted £35 per week. I tried others but that seemed to be the right order. Some caravan parks would take it but the price was 8/900 a year. So I began to think of the trailer as a luxury that I did not really need and have been making plans to sell it.
