Star sold

Forums:

Hi All,

Ann and I have just sold Star to Bry who will be joining the MOA. He, his grandson & family, will be using her on Windermere and as he has never used a Mac before, I'm sure he will be needing help and advice which, knowing how friendly and helpful to us you've all been, will be forthcoming to Bry and his family as well.
We will remain members and will be reading about your adventures and the mods you are doing. I'm really looking forwards to Jonathon and Miriam's write up on their steering project.

Richard Kerswell Sailing Pegasus Mac26M around Britain.

Forums:

I am not sure if other members have seen Richard. He is sailing his Mac26M around Britain, he is raising money for charity whilst enjoying a great adventure.

You can follow his exploits on Facebook

https://www.facebook.com/groups/Pegasuses.places/?ref=share

I have thoroughly enjoyed Richard's progress, he left Penzance 24th June, and has now made Belfast and is heading on to Glasgow.

I am not sure that Richard is a member on here but I am sure his adventure will interest a few 😃

Hera first sail and huge thanks to Roly.

Forums:

I am so glad I joined this Owners Association 😃

Roly came out to visit Hera and I and give me some tips and advice today. Thank you so much Roly 😃 It was fantastic to have someone look over my running rigging and standing rigging. Thanks to Roly's advice I was able to rig the two main reef positions with single line reefing, and then had a sail up and down Southampton Water.

To say that I am delighted would be an understatement.

motoring without water ballast

Forums:

I recently put Poppy on Lough Erne, Ireland. I haven't put water ballast in because we will not be sailing. We will be exploring the vast network of water ways and the mast would stop us going under bridges etc. We have access to the loughs down to the Shannon and the Shannon itself. There is also the grand canal to Dublin She seems stable enough just under engine but I keep seeing the notice that says 'do not operate without water ballast'. I would be interested to know how do others find motoring without ballast.

Boat Register

Forums:

Hi All,

just added some detail to my record that is accessible to all members. I will also add the serial numbers later when we get home.

Seems like a good idea to me as I can't see which boats have blue or white hulls and the question of touch up paint has just come up again.

Bucklers Hard launching

Forums:

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone had used the slipway at Bucklers Hard on the Beaulieu river? I've only launched my canoe there before so wondering what it's like with a larger boat.

I had a look on Google Street view and there appears to be a 26C in the boat Park area adjacent although photo from 2016.

Thanks

Chris

Maccing in Denmark

Forums:

Hi guys, best wishes for your rally. It shows how much work you do to organise a rally in the UK.

It’s great fun and camaraderie. It’s just seems so much work!

My Mac spent the last fifteen years in Denmark, which has been great fun, for the following reasons:

Usually no booking for a berth, free parking and free on-boat camping until launch. Free trailer parking for duration of stay. Cheap launch fee typically £5. Modern showers and toilets with heated floors.

Ocean cruising club

Forums:

I know that no one will be doing any ocean cruising in a Mac!! But I am wondering if anyone here is a member of the ocean cruising club? I'm going to join as a way to mix with long distance sailors in my lifelong quest to sail around the world. I need to get a sponsor for my application so could you please let me know if you are able to help me. Thank you Jason
