Maccing in Denmark

Hi guys, best wishes for your rally. It shows how much work you do to organise a rally in the UK.

It’s great fun and camaraderie. It’s just seems so much work!

My Mac spent the last fifteen years in Denmark, which has been great fun, for the following reasons:

Usually no booking for a berth, free parking and free on-boat camping until launch. Free trailer parking for duration of stay. Cheap launch fee typically £5. Modern showers and toilets with heated floors.

At my favourite marina, Bogense Denmark, the public are welcome to stroll, three restaurants plus numerous shops on the marina. My favourite berth was just 50 feet to the best fish restaurant. The launch ramp is automatic ,card operated. Free hose down for trailer. No need to speak to any staff at all unless you had a problem. No tides, just currents 1-2 feet variation unless storms.

The ramp at Bogense is modern and can launch two boats at the same time, there is is also a hoist if you don’t want wet the trailer. I will try to send the ramp picture. I wanted to arrange a Mac rally, but since the direct ferry stopped running it’s a long drive via Holland and Germany. Fortunately we have relations in both countries so we can break the journey.

Regrettably age is not on my side and Sandpiper is now back in the UK for sale, she is like new inside and out - any takers?

Regards to all. David Phillips.
