Winter mooring

Forums:

My 26X Maid of Kent (2000 build) is spending her first winter on the water on a fore-and-aft mooring near Poole, having spent most of her life on the trailer.

Does anyone do the same? Any experiences to be aware of?
The boat is visited regularly, and apart from bilge water collecting, all seems well.

Any advice/information would be useful, thanks!

Have I cracked the Macgregor dance?

Forums:

At anchor in our X in Poole harbour, tide approx 1-2 knots and wind 12mph. We were the only boat dancing around while all the other keel boats were standing still so I tried every conceivable combination to try sort it out.

Best solution came by partly dropping the centreboard (releasing the rope by 160mm so that the board acted as a long keel). Had the engine and one (port) rudder fully down. The anchor rope was over the bow but held to the towing eye with a snubber. The dancing virtually stopped. Dropping or raising the centreboard fully brought back the dance.

Newsletter 109 Autumn 2022 - content needed

Forums:

This is a plea for contributions to the next Newletter (magazine) due to be published end of October-ish. Please dig deep and find a few moments to capture in words and images (if you have them) of some Mac related adventures from 2022. Where have you been? What have you enjoyed? What challenges have you faced? All successes and all failures treated with all due respect and understanding. Explanations and observations of a technical nature that might be shared for the benefit of all, also welcome.
