Ive bought via ebay a fixed vhf dsc set. Unfortunately my boats previous owner mounted the compass on the port side. I think the port side is the most sensible place to mount a vhf for easy in and out of cabin access. However I have to mount the vhf 1 meter from the compass
has any one else had this problem or jot a good recommended mounting point ?
Some of you may remember I was looking for a tender share on the hamble

Having just trailed my 26X from Yarmouth IoW to Wokingham in Berkshire, the first time I have done any trailering for five years or so, a couple of things bothered me!
When pulling away or coming to a stop there was a kind of initial drag from the trailer to the car on pulling away and a nudge when stopping.
Now am I right in thinking this is probably the actuator on the trailer breaking system?
After a number of problems on my engine caused by water in the fuel I had to have all the carbs cleaned and reset and have fitted a big water filter in the fuel line hoping this was the end of my engine problems.
Now however I am having trouble rasing and lowering my engine, at first I thought it was a battery problem but there was no problem starting the engine, which takes far more power from the battery.
Jean & I are planning to take Avocet on a cruise on the Fenland waterways for a week or so in mid-September, probably launching at St Ives about Wednesday 17th and visiting Cambridge and Denver, perhaps continuing on the Middle Level or maybe exploring some of the tributaries of the Lower Great Ouse. At least one other member has expressed interest in coming along - others would be welcome also. This is definitely a "leave the mast at home" voyage since air draught can be down to 2 metres below some bridges.
I have a tri colour light I want to fit to the top of my mast. Any hot tips for top of 26x mast mounting.
Also I have a NASA annenometer where the wind cups were blown off by winter gales. I have a spare set but also need a replacement spindle. Am I the only person this has happned to ? any advise welcome
I have purchased on behalf of the mac association a CD of manuals for Honda outboards to add to the library. Im also looking for a CD for Tohatus and Suzukhi outboards. When I have all three I will post to Sandra our librarian.
I have also got charts for Solent to Christchurch and intend to get us a set of charts for cross channel use.
Is there a preference for paper or waterproof charts I will assume paper for cross channel purchase
