Around Ireland in an M

Forums:

I have just come off the phone to Richard Kerswell who is sailing his M in an anticlockwise direction around Ireland. He started from Dunmore East near Waterford and has reached an anchorage just south of Sligo on the west cost. He is sitting out some strong winds before the next leg - still a long way to go and a lot of it exposed to the Atlantic weather systems. He's certainly taken on a challenge but so far so good. He says hospitality has been fantastic and he has met one X owner but couldn't remember his name.

Macgregor 26 Porthmadog

Forums:

I have been contacted by Porthmadog sailing club.

Porthmadog SC has been in touch

An unnamed Macgregor 26 possibly a C or an S as it has a single rudder, broke loose from her mooring in Porthmadog. She has been recovered pretty much undamaged and secured. The club doesn't know the owner neither does it appear the Harbour master.

If anyone has any knowledge of the boat please let me know.

Trailer

Forums:

Is anyone selling a trailer for a 26s, I am desperate for one.

Can the boat go on a trailer with side roller bunks like the xtreme ones or does it need to be like the original? What type of trailer have people used as replacements, anyone got companies they can recommend?

Thanks

Storage and water

Forums:

Just come back from our first extended trip this year and wonder how members deal with the two big issues we faced, namely storage and water.

Storage:, the large berth at the back is crammed with dinghy, ropes, spare fenders etc so we packed our bags and when on passage the bags are placed in the v-berth. However for the rest of the the time we're constantly moving one thing to access another, with bags everywhere. I though of hanging nets up at the front of the boat but has anyone found a neat convenient way to store food, clothes etc. so they're easily accessible but secure?

Moorings available on the Hamble

Forums:

I thought I would inform members that contrary to popular believe there seem to be a number of available munipal mooronmgs on the Hamble River that are very suitable for a Macgregor. I have had one such mooring for about 9 years . Many of them are between 2 piles sharing with another boat but there are also some pile mpoorimgs that have a pontoon to tie up to in exactly the same way as at a marina . I have had a pontoon for the last 5 years which is an easy row several marinas or a public slip and is in a prettyu part of the river with swans and possibility of swimming off the boat .

MacGregor Sailor 110, magazine/newsletter of the MOA

Forums:

The next MacGregor Sailor, the magazine and Newsletter of the MOA, will be compiled over the coming weeks and I am begging you - yes, begging you - to send me some words for inclusion. I will accept anything that is Mac or sailing related but, most interesting, are accounts of: your sailing experiences, MacGregor specific insights, technical innovations, modifications, cruising area recommendations and individual member introductions.

I urge new members, in particular, to tell us a bit about yourself and your sailing/Maccing experiences.
