Hello.out last week and the pin on the propeller snapped off lucky a club member came to the rescue and towed me back to the club house ,
Now fixed , I would like to attach a Axillary outboard motor on the back for times like this but we're do fix it ? Has anybody put on Axillary outboard motor on the back , please I would like to know ??
Something learnt today.Out today on Ashanti (M26) in a 3 to 5 on the Crouch.Applying my dinghy skills do not always work on a larger boat.What appeared to be enough speed to tack she would not go from port to starboard.I'm thinking less foresail might help.To make matters worse using full width of a river not so clever either.Gave up and did a jibe but running out of water she was pretty slow to react.Lucky that lovely engine came to the rescue.Not for the first time.
Pinching on close haul not quick enough so playing the mainsail with the gusts.All good fun this learning curve.
I am thinking of changing my Kia Sorrento for a Ford Transit. Does anyone have experience of towing with a long wheel base van...regarding total length and turning circle etc ?
A cheap fix for the sun .A £12.00 sunshade from Amazon and a couple of poles .I will change those to aluminium poles in keeping with the rest of the boat.The centre raised utilising the overhead boom.One day I might be able to afford a real Bimini 😉.
Our first day on swinging mooring left us dizzy.The light wind at 90 deg to tide kept winning until head to wind then the tide brought us back in line with the other boats.
Dropped the dagger board but the cycle was much the same .Can we use a drogue whilst on swinging moorings and would it help ?
After cleaning Ashanti ashore she came up excellent,a credit to previous owners care.The black vinyl surrounding the windows has dulled.Any tips for what you use to bring back the gloss ?
Hi all, A friend is buying the mast from a 26D that is at a breakers. He wants to fit it to a 26X as his mast was broken in the recent storms at Windermere. Does anybody know if this is doable or is he wasting his time. I have asked this on the thread that listed the boat at the breakers but got no replies so I thought it's own thread would be seen by more people. Thanks in advance.
