I recently found a cheap and effective replacement for the cabin floor mats in my 19.
I'm not sure what the original mats were like, but the ones in mine when I bought it a few years ago were no longer much better than a couple of bits of rag! I made replacements from some foam-backed polyester carpet that I've used successfully before, but the foam quickly disintegrated, leaving a mass of black dust on the floor. Part of the problem is that the 19 floor area is so small, and in two parts either side of the centreboard trunk, that there's a lot of footfall on two small bits of carpet.
My latest solution is a £10 rubber backed floor runner from B&Q. I'd bought a couple for use at home on a tiled floor, and I thought it might work for the boat. I found that with careful measuring and cutting, you can get both floor pieces for a 19 from one runner. If your originals are in good shape you can use them as templates, otherwise make precise templates from some thin cardboard. Cut the runner from the back through the rubber using a sharp knife.
The top of the runner is a coarse ribbed effect, so it's not luxurious, but better than the plain GRP floor. I'm hoping these will be reasonably hard wearing. In any event, £10 is not a lot to renew them!
