Damp

Forums:

For the last 15 years Hera has enjoyed the luxury of over-wintering on our drive with an electricity supply for a small oil filled radiator and sometimes a dehumidifier and a "smart" charger for the batteries.

So now she is parked in a farm yard without electricity. Whilst she is covered with tarpaulin, which helps to keep the rainwater getting in through those leaky deck fittings etc, she is already rather damp inside.

Mac 26 X seats.

Forums:

Just bought. 2000 Mac 26 X. It seems the dinette fixtures are different to my 2001 Mac.

On my my 2001 Mac , the rear facing dinette seat has a backrest that slots into the base, this 2000 boat does not have this-most odd ? Does anybody have any info ? Does anybody have the answer, -even better an unwanted Mac seatback.

Nicola was watching Sink or Swim for Cancer on Channel 4 last night and saw a brief scene of a passing yacht. It is definitely a 26C, but it isn't ours. Can anyone identify it?

Although I did miss the Big Mac, I did get to do a trip that’s been on my mind for a while. Starting from Tollesbury Marina on the Blackwater, I went to the Orwell, then up to Lowestoft, where I escaped the wind for 3 days. Then a long day sailing and mothering to Wells-Next-The-Sea. On to King’s Lynn, then down the Ouse to a marina 5 miles from my home in Great Stukeley.

It was a great trip....challenging at times, but it felt really good to have done by myself.

Beaching

Forums:

Hi all,

Weather looks good so I hope to trail our Mac to Loch Lomond Saturday morning. For the overnight I plan have a go at beaching the boat on one of the islands there. I understand they are nice shallow sandy beaches and of course Loch Lomond is not tidal and the winds are forecast to be light. An ideal set of circumstances perhaps!

So, does anyone have any pointers for how to go about this?

Next MacGregor Owners Magazine

Forums:

Hello all

A call to arms -- OK, a call to keyboards and folders containing all that stunning photography from this year's Mac related adventures........

I'm starting to put together the next Mac Owners Mag fairly shortly. I think we're good for Windermere copy; but feel free to add your own experiences and pics from this memorable week.

What about any technical tips, boat jumble, memorable trips, circumnavigations (of the world, the country or the Isle of Wight)? We're not fussed. In fact send me anything you fancy (within reason).

Summer mooring

Forums:

Hi All,

I’m looking to have some time off work next summer and considering putting the boat in a marina to try and get out a bit more. Based in Bedford, I’m looking at S.East coast (approx. 2.5 hrs drive). Has anyone got any recommendations?

Thanks

Chris

Auxiliary backup

Forums:

Hi all

Reading the comments on Simons “outboards” our Yamaha 50 failed to start recently which was a problem and yes we have sails but it set me wondering if in some circumstances it might we worth having some sort of auxiliary power

Motor Boats often have a smaller outboard for backup, but I think finding a location on a 26M for an auxiliary outboard would be difficult a friend suggested towing with a Dingy which might be ok on the Canals but at sea? Any thoughts
