Sail valeting

I would like to get my main and jib valeted this winter, and possibly get my old, beat-up genoa looked at. Has anyone a sail loft on the East coast that they would reccommend? Also, how many of you have added a second reef to your stock MacGregor mainsail?

I have a reefs above and below the macgregor reef and have found that useful....but it adds some complexity to the single line reefing system!

I could see that! Do you use the 3rd (least amount of sail) reef much?

I have used Wilkinson's for

I have used Wilkinson's for several sails and they have done a good job if a little slow, but they are in Faversham, Kent which may be a bit too far for you

Mike Clark had a sail made by a loft on Mersey Island and recommended them but I can't remember their name

Hope this helps

Worth looking at blue water

Worth looking at blue water yachts to consider the new price:- 900usd for a 2 reef mainsail, 600usd for a Genoa

I had a set made by N & J

I had a set made by N & J Mussett based on Mersea Island and they did an excellent job - much better quality sails than the sad things that were originally supplied. They set better and were much more efficient when reefed than the baggy thin originals. The jib was made with a UV protector and was left on the roller reef without degrading. The original jib rotted away in the UV. The new sails kept there shape in a blow and were definitely better / faster than the original Doyle sails which were built with a budget material.

I'm sure they will have kept the original design and would provide a competitive quote - they were cheaper and better than some of the larger well known sail lofts we contacted.

Weird? My original posting

Weird? My original posting seems to have gone AWOL.

I have used ADM Sails (Andy McIver) based in Heybridge for several years now and have always found him to be good. 01621851663/07739097575
