Events for 2018 - have your say!

Forums:

Hello to all MOA members

The MOA Committee's thoughts are turning to events for the forthcoming season. A backdrop to our thoughts is a feeling that attendance at events is dwindling and that we should investigate this trend and consider what we can do to reverse it. On February 17, in Warwick, the AGM will seek to ratify a plan of official events for 2018 and we would like as much input as possible from the membership. This forum topic is an opportunity for you to contribute your thoughts and suggestions.

Hi Guys & Girls,

I have finally re-ordered the rubbing strip and end caps to replace these on 'Lonach and hopefully will get this done for ext season as I am going to keep her now after several derisory offers it doesn't make sense to sell her for little more than an old banger would fetch.

I have viewed the new website for MacGrepogor parts which seems a little lesss complicated than the old website and wondered if anybody else has come across this site: 'http://shop.bwyachts.com/category-s/106.htm

Emergency Steering for 26X

Forums:

Hello

After suffering total steering failure (at a most inopportune moment) occasioned by a weld on the rudder bracket giving way and the anxiety state that gave rise to, I'm interested to know if any 26X owners have given any thought to emergency steering --- specifically the provision of an emergency tiller/rudder combo that would normally be stored out of sight but could be pressed into service when the chips were down.

I see elsewhere that John Pompei's getting a rapid engine disconnect and emergency tiller from BWY, but that's for his 26M, and mine's a 26X.

Kill cords

We all know that best safety practice dictates that the helmsman should have the kill cord attached to his person while the boat is under power. But how many of us actually do this? I admit I hardly ever do, as it's so restrictive when managing a Mac, but I've been giving the subject some thought of late.

Auto bilge pump

Forums:

hi all

just had a look at a 1996 26X which has an automatic bilge pump fitted in the storage area just forward of the head under the foam seat pad. The owner tells me it is to clear spilt water from the storage tank forward of the plotting table. Is this likely or is it something that has been fitted because a leak could not be found?? Is it a concern or not. Unfortunately didn’t think to taste it whilst we were there but think it unlikely to be sea water as the boat has been out of the water since August.

any advice please

Hi all

sorry just posted in the wrong section so here it is again with a request for a copy of an owners hand book for a 97 26x happy to pay what’s required if there is such a beast available.

Looking at an early 26x soon (hopefully) later this week so anything I should be particularly aware of?

Also, can ballast be dumped whilst in the water or do you have to launch dry?

boat yard have said it’s slow and suggested removing the prop guard (tube) around the prop on the 50 Hp Tohatsu 2 stroke. Would this improve the speed??
