Forums:

Hi All

I have just bought Whimbrel and towed her up from Ipswitch to Loch Lomond where I live.

I am looking forward to joining in the active Macgregor club.

I am wondering if people have experience of buying new spray hoods / bimini cover, ie where from etc

Also experiance of buying / fitting ebespacher warm air heater / second battery.

many thanks mark newall

Rigging

Forums:

Hello

I would like to simplify the rigging on my Mac. I have attached photos showing existing set up which has some kind of addition at the base of the mast along with added pulleys. The sail up and down is by one rope which is a loop. What I would like to do is dispose of all the gubbins around the base of the mast and run 2 ropes through pulleys back to the cockpit, is there any reason I cannot do this?

Appreciate any advise on this

First time I have tried this so apologies if none of it makes sense or uploads properley

VAT

Forums:

I am in the process of selling my Mac and the buyer wants proof that VAT has been paid - which I do not have. The buyer says that they may take the boat to the Med and thus it is a cause for concern. A brief on-line search confirms that there may be a liability. Does anyone know how to prove that the VAT has been paid or how to gain some kind of exemption certificate from HMRC?

Transfer of ownership

Forums:

Hi all,

Next question.

I bought the 26X last year and now trying to sort out a few things before the season.

The boat came with a VHF DSC fitted and I have also bought a handheld VHF DSC radio (new). I know the MMSI of the fitted radio as it comes up on the display. The new radio is blank and is asking me to enter one.

I have a "Short Range Certificate" from a few years ago and it does cover DSC, although I have never used that so will need to brush up a little.

Big thank you to Rick Jones

Forums:

Just wanted to say a big Thank You to Rick Jones for all he does for the MOA, especially the website; thanks Rick!

It's partly the note you recently put in the post to us all that prompted me but also I found myself viewing all the photos that you've set up on the main page of the MOA site. I just sat there for about 15 minutes simply enjoying looking at Macs and Mac owners; something about a shared experience I guess; thanks again Rick!

Hello and slipway guide.

Forums:

Hello everybody.

We have recently bought a 26X and we have just today joined the associatìon.

We are in South West Scotland but hope to trail about a bit.

I thought I saw a reference to a slipway guide but I can't seem to find one on this website. Any ideas?

Our most local slipway at Annan is good concrete and good access for getting lined up. It is 11.6 degrees in gradient. Is that too steep?. What are the practical limits for launching?

Thanks in advance.

David Kirk.
