Mast down!

Forums:

I checked my rigging prior to raising the mast this year, nothing out of the ordinary, being over cautious I
changed the pins on all the wire deck fixings as I could see small groves appearing other than that everthing appeared okay.
The rigger quoting me to repair my mast says that the rigging should be changed every 5th year due to the rotating mast! Knews to me or is this common knowledge?
My 26 m 2007 is on a swing mooring in Poole harbour main sheet pulled tight, kicker on tight to stop mast from rotating in the swell.

26M SECURITY WARNING!

Forums:

I have had the unfortunate experience of having my boat burgled and trashed. The frightening thing is how easy it is to gain access to a 26M with the (relative) little use of brute force. The locking hasp on the washboard was bent back using the padlock as a fulcrum- easy enough with a long lever or similar instrument, then you lever the hatch forward enough to gain access to the rear of the washboard with pliers to trap the nyloc nuts securing the hasp to the washboard and then unscrew the set bolts and release the hasp, thus gaining access to the boat interior.

Navigation is a series of plots. In fog the plot thickens...

Heart stopping moment

Forums:

I've Just had a real scary moment working on my MAC

I keep my M26 nicely sheltered in a horse paddock.

I was doing a pre season check of brakes/ bearing when I noticed some tyes were starting to splitt - More expense

The local tyre dealer gave a very good deal for a set of four so I put the trailer on axle stands , 4 wheels off and away downtown i went.

Returning with 4 shiney new tyres a few hours later I went to fit them.

Register of members' outboards

Forums:

You should have already seen the post about the stolen outboard recovered by the Police.

They contacted us after finding our web site, having established that the motor had come from a Mac. However, we cannot help directly because we have no details of members' outboards. We keep a record of the model, hull number, and SSR of everyone's boat (provided you inform us of course!), but this incident has made me think it would be useful to do the same for the outboards.
