** IS THIS YOUR STOLEN OUTBOARD? **

We have just received the following communication from the Police. They are looking to return an outboard stolen from a Mac with its owner. If this is yours, please contact the police directly, but also please let use know here - we're interested to follow the outcome.

Dear Sir

I am a marine officer with Cumbria Constabulary and am currently trying to establish the owner of a Evinrude Etec 50 outboard motor(grey in colour) which has been recovered by Police I have established that the 2005 engine was put into a Macgregor yacht in 2005 having been purchased in cornwall by an owner in London but the current owner is not known .The engine was recovered on 14th Feb 2012 on the M6 and therefore the theft has occurred prior to that date but it may be that the owner of the vessel has it in storage until easter and may not be aware .If you could put me in touch with someone from the association who could put a message on your site I would appreciate it.

As a matter of interest, I received the following email from John Batten, which explains how the police found their way to us:

------------------------
PC 49 Marina Branch called me because we were registered at Windermere. Surprised me but he must have gone through the log at the marina when we had the event in 2010. I suggested he look at the Mac owners site and I guess that is how he contacted you. They had found a 50hp Evinrude that had been nicked from a Mac.
