Pauline and I will be attending this year's AGM and we are both looking forward to catching up with everyone after missing last year. (Op date brought forward due to cancellation).
We are travelling up on the Friday afternoon and staying at the Best Western Moat House Hotel , Mill Lane Sindlesham RG41 5DG on Friday evening.
It isn't the closest hotel to the Bull, but it's only 16 minutes away and offers flexible booking.
I have received a request from someone who is interested in buying a Mac 26M but would like the opportunity to have a trial sail with anyone willing to help. Solent area would be fine for him - weekend best but weekday possible if necessary.
Please respond here if you are able to help and I will let you have the contact details.
Does anyone know what the IRC rating is for a 26M?
I am thinking of entering the Round the Island Race and couldn't find MacGregors in any of the lists.
I have crewed in this race but this will be first as an owner. Has anyone done the race?
Thanks
Simon

Hi all, hopefully some of you knowledgeable owners can help me out. I'm not yet an owner but intend to get an M or X. I'm in the fortunate position of having the grand union canal at the bottom of my garden. Space is somewhat limited but I am installing a boat ramp / boat house. At the moment it's 3m wide and slopes down 1ft from the garden to the water and then a further 2ft under the water at a gradient of 1 in 4. So questions...3m should be plenty wide enough as the trailer is about 2.4m wide right?
We are new members and joined the MOA because we are interested in buying a 26 M as we find the idea of opening up new cruising grounds within the UK and further afield very attractive.
However, our previous boats have all been in the 36 to 40 length bracket (the last one being a Bavaria 40) and I am concerned about how my wife may take to the different handling characteristics of the 26 when under sail, given the different weight, ballast, displacement etc.
We are planning to be at the Boat Show on Saturday (14th) - is anyone else there on that day?? Perhaps we could meet up - by the Tattoo/MacGregor stand??
Members may be interested that I have just unloaded the first Tattoo to arrive in the UK. This is the 11th boat built. Externally it is very similar to the M but ther are some changes to the pushpit There are changes to the rigging and all controls can now be led back to the cockpit including the main halyard. The interior looks quite different. The galley and table now have a speckled appearance and there is a useful storage space in the middle of the table. The mirrors have all gone and the overall interior is of a lighter colour. The cushions are quite different and a lighter colour.
Whilst looking at all the nasty exclusions on boat insurance policies (see separate depressing thread) there was one that particularly struck me. It's a simple one. The general duty to use our boats safely. And reading that requirement has spurred me to write this - something I have been intending to say for some time.
