Rule changes

Forums:

Being safe with our boats and trailers is of utmost concern to us all. Indeed, Roly Simpson has written on safety issues on more than one occasion in his Commodore’s Log during the year.

You will remember that we completely revised our rules a couple of years ago and there were a number of aspects to the rules dealing with safety and responsibility. Your committee has been reviewing those rules and we have identified some areas for improvement. We are therefore intending to propose rule amendments as set out below to be approved at the AGM. New words are shown in red.

26M head door

Forums:

Hi,
I am a new member of the association and new to MacGregors having just today completed the purchase of a previously owned 26M currently berthed in Falmouth so I suspect I shall be in touch quite frequently for hints and support.
My first problem is that the previous owner took off the bi-folding door to the heads and put it somewhere safe (where it still is and I am without)

New 24 foot Mac

Forums:

In case you haven't seen this on the American website, here's some interesting info from a reliable source quoting a reliable source (so it must be true then):-

"I happen to have it on very reliable inside sources that MacGregor has realized the market for boats is shrinking and will correspondingly be shrinking their new design - the market can't currently support a larger, more expensive boat.

?2013 Rally

Forums:

I spoke with somebody on the Saturday evening of the recent East Coat Muster about the possibility of arranging a rally / meet in the Channel Isles with the intention to launch the boats at either Carteret or Granville on the French Coast. Unfortunately I can't remember who it was that I was discussing this with - perhaps someone can help me make contact. I sailed into Carteret last weekend and it has a good wide ramp and plenty of free parking. I have picked up a harbour guide and am happy to send this on to whoever is interested in looking at this.

Maurice Newman

Forums:

We today received the sad news that Maurice Newman died yesterday morning in Llandough Hospital, Cardiff. He was fighting a battle against a brain tumour that was diagnosed only last November. He contracted pneumonia and was not strong enough to fight it. He will be very much missed by his friends and family, as well as everyone in the Association that had met him.

Maurice was a member since 2006, and a frequent rallier, happily towing his 26M "Cyan" long distances from South Wales to attend many events. He became well-known and liked for his unique brand of enthusiasm.
