High Summer on the Lake

quentin.sands's picture

Amidst the talk of goosenecks, jib size and sail trim in force 8 gales I thought I'd share a few snaps that don't really do justice to how lovely it was to be out on the Lake last weekend. I think the footy kept the crowds away and the weather was perfect. I really must organise or invite you all to a Mac gathering up here - there's a lot of fun to be had, in many ways.

Marvellous May

The last Bank Holiday was perfect boating weather although we did a lot of not much. The Lake was idyllic and there were many boats on the water. We took our 'newish' dog Polly with us, and she loved it too.

Commodore's Cruising - Easter '18

The weather hasn't been great but I managed three day/night visits over the Easter period, with three sets of friends. First, with my neighbour Rob who, this year, is sharing the costs of our Windermere mooring fees in order to learn the ropes. Second, with my colleague from work and his wife and two children who were staying in a chalet at Fellbarrow, adjacent to Bowness. We visited Wray Castle and dined at the Wateredge Inn, in Ambleside. Finally with my friends, brothers Guy and Gav.

Fowey - First coastal hop

mike.floutier's picture

This is my first full year, in the water, as a Mac owner (indeed any boat owner) and this is a photographic account of my first coastal hop to the beautiful Harbour of Fowey from my home base in Trevissome, Falmouth.

Very many thanks to all on the Forum who have made this possible and enjoyable - special thanks to BOAT on the USA forum who inspired me (along with my aerospace engineer friend Dangerous Dave Tate) to modify a Raymarine st2000 and install it, along with wired and wireless remote controls below decks.

In praise of February

Some pics from me and my wife enjoying a day on the lake the day before 'Doris' Day. It was such a pleasure and a reminder of the all-year nature of this pastime of ours. As is often the case in the Winter months I was the only boat on the water - definitely the only Mac on the water!

Windermere in December

It was such a perfect day on the lake yesterday so I thought I would share some MaGregoring pics from my phone. A great pre Christmas roam and I am sneaking a night up there next week too. I have my eyes on the events for next year...just negotiating time slots....Merry Christmas to all. 2016 was a cracker for me and Mrs M.

Aranah at Bembridge

Last weekend I managed to sneak away for what will probably be the last overnighter of the year. Fortunately Bjorn Sjoling was free. We feasted on his confit de canard and enjoyed a pint with some live music at The Pilot Boat before retiring for a peaceful night semi afloat. Perfect.

We saw an amazing mini rainbow in the evening clouds
