Hi All,
I'm looking at options to simplify raising/lowering/reefing the mainsail and one challenge I have is my 26M didn't come with a mast gate / Sail Entry Tongue Gate.
I have seen that Mastgates.com offer solutions, but I'm interested in views from yourselves.
Thanks in Advance
Paul

Hi Paul
I created a home-made mast gate on both the Macs I owned - a 19 and 26X - using the same technique on both.
I put up some photos of the rigging mods I made to the 19 in the gallery here: /node/3387. It includes a description of the process and close-ups of the gate. Worked really well, and was cheap - just a bit of time and care!
Hope that helps, please ask if you have any questions.

I think Rick's solution was good but on my M I just bought one of the track stoppers from Force 4....it's a slider with a knurled screw device that holds it in place. The only thing is that it was quite high to get above the feed in area if the M mast and hence the sail didn't pack up as low as it might have....that was a small issue and could have been solved if I had used a rubber mallet to close down some of the gap.
If using the stopper slides as described make sure you tighten more than finger tight otherwise could come undone.
