I've received an email from long-time member John Denman. He's had his 26X in France for several years, and is now selling it to a Belgian. The buyer says he needs an EU certificate of compliance to be able to register it in Belgium.
Personally I have no clue about this, does anyone know what is involved, whether such certificates exist and even if it is in fact necessary? John would appreciate any help or advice anyone can offer.
TIA

Fortunately my 26M came wit the EU certification. I am aware that one or two owners have reached out to Mr Macgregors daughter of Tattoo fame and they have been able to supply a copy certificate whether that is still possible I don't know but worth a try their Web page is still up with a contact link https://tattooyachts.com/

Is this the evidence that VAT has been paid....that's the only thing that I was aware that Laura Macgregor was able to supply to us. I've never heard of separate EU cert of compliance...like a kite mark !
I believe there is a requirement for a EU cert.
I tryed to buy a 26X from the US some time back and I think it was BWY advised me to check out the cost of obtaining a certificate of EU compliance.
What year is the boat?, There was an exemption in place for craft in use in the EU prior to 1998 that did not require CE certification. I'm not sure whether Brexit might have scuppered this however and would need investigating

John's made contact with Tattoo and they're helping him out, so should get it resolved. If they can't, nobody can!
Thanks for replies.

would be great to document the process once resolved
It's a long story but I am selling my 26x in France to a Belgian who uses the same marina. He's enthusiastically paid the agreed fair price and I have come down to Languedoc to meet him and handover items that I have been keeping in my French property over winter etc. Now at the last minute he has requested CE documentation and tbh I didn't know what he meant or even really why he would need it. Anyhow it was vital for him and faced with the prospect of returning his money and starting all over again and maybe having to tow the boat back to the UK I got busy googling for information and of course there's lots but basically CE status is like a kite mark( as Roly guessed) and it's essential for products to be CE approved for sale in Europe. Goods that meet the standards display a CE sticker and there's an accompanying certificate and declaration of conformity😱. My Belgian buyer needed this to register the boat in Belgium and thereby get Insurance which the port/ marina need to see. All this was news to me and to Rick whom as ever has been very helpful and kept me saner!
To continue-- Rick placed the above post and Jonathan Knight steered me towards Laura at Tattoo yachts. I asked her for help and she very quickly replied saying that only Mac's with a USMAC lettering at the start of the Hull no would be to the EC standard and I had to send her photos of my HIN no and my stern pulpit and the ce plate from my boat Rai Leh- which I did. So then following another sleepless night the blessed Laura sent me the documents that tbh I didn't expect to receive. I was so pleased and relieved and joyously informed my buyer whom after a brief pause told me that he now needs the same for my FT50 CETL Yamaha outboard
To continue, I need help again( apart from counselling)😱- deep breath- be mindful of your heart condition ! So can anyone advise re CE paperwork for my Yamaha outboard other than contacting Yamaha Marine ? And the IMCI- the Brussels based awarding body?and it goes without saying that in hindsight my buyer should have raised this at the beginning and if you have the original CE paperwork then keep it safe!
