Correct position of rudders

Hi

My first time out on our 26M last week had the rudders at a angle in the water. Could not see any way of bringing them vertical. On the Pontoon today I could see the adjuster bolt was some way away from its stopper. What am I missing to get them to go vertical?

Hi Gary

Hi Gary

The bolt should hit the stop and should it should be adjusted to your preferred setting I.e. verticle. Adjustment seriously affects weather helm.

Will the rudder go verticle if you push it, if so the downhaul must be jamming somehow. If it won't go verticle there must be an obstruction between hull and rudder or the pivot itself is jamming.

Hi, Gary,

Hi, Gary,

Just a thought but the rudders are hollow and sometimes take a bit of time to sink to a vertical position, otherwise check out Jonathan's post and check for a blockage The system is fairy simple, although bigger and heavier than a dinghy.

Good Luck

Simon

I see you have the CD packing

I see you have the CD packing in place . This can sometimes make it tight at start of season so a little lubricant may help and a tug on the downhaul side of the rope.
