Good morning,
We have recently taken ownership of a 26X, Just Add Water. And very lovely she is, too.
She is now based at Hythe, on the Solent. I think she would benefit from a small modification to the hydraulic steering mechanism to help slow speed manoeuvring.
Can anyone suggest a local engineer who would be able to have a look and give me an opinion? Or possibly a local member could give me the benefit of their wisdom.
I'm also looking for recommendations for servicing the outboard(s) at the end of the season
Thanks in advance
Stu

I don't know much about hydrolics but the yamaha agent at bucklers hard are good and might come out to Hythe for a small fee.
Thanks, Roly
I have an M and she is almost impossible to steer under power at low speeds unless the centre board is down. I had many embarrassing moments when first launching her in a marina. The other thing it took a while to understand was that, on my Yamaha 50 4 stroke, the throttle needs to be about 20 degrees forward to engage properly. Less than that and the engine has a propensity to cut out. so day ONE, no steering, no power, no experience. Once I had cracked these issues things just got better and better.
Good Luck, Stu.
Thanks, Simon.
I take your point and will be experimenting with low speed handling far from prying eyes, but I can see that the way the steering is set up, there differential. At furthest throw, the angle is more to port than starboard, if that makes sense.
All the very best
Stu
