Hi Guys,
I put Sky's the Limit on her mooring on Saturday and took her out for a first sail yesterday.
I had planned to tighten her cap shrouds but when I got there they looked fairly snug - to my inexperienced eye - and so I didn't.
However, when sailing - with just the 140% Genoa - I noticed that it's luff (ie. the forestay) appeared very slack; easy to compare with it's halyard.
Of course I should have looked at all this on land but had been assured by the PO that the standing rigging had been checked by a MAC specialist.
Anyway, having got home I started googling and I'm guessing that my cap shrouds are not tight enough. I've read that they can probably be anything from 15 - 25% of breaking strain AND that proper tension has various important benefits.
Ok, that's really just a long winded way of asking if anyone has a Loos gauge I can borrow.
I'd only want it a few days and I'd post it straight back

Wrong time of year to be asking this question I guess as you must all be busy tuning your own rigs ready to get on the water.
Anyway, I'm hoping someone may have one spare in due course BUT, in the meantime, perhaps folk would be good enough to share some of your own experiences of rig tuning, especially without the benefit of any turnbuckles (as we usually are).
