I should explain further, I, like others have been searching through the Internet looking for comparison with the Macgregor 26 X/M, I'm settled on the fact that's it's the right boat for my family and I, I think it would be useful to experience the whole, launching, retrieving, mast stepping etc to see if I could do it single handed.
I had not thought about the engine issue, I assume Rutland Water do not allow you on with the petrol engine.
Rutland is nearest to me so I was hoping to witness /experience the whole process if there was a member local, however I'm pretty much happy to go anywhere so if anyone has the time to "show me the ropes" It would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks for the clarification. My M is tucked away for the winter. I would be very happy for you to join me when I get her going this spring. I am in Huntingdon and have been doing my sailing in Norfolk.
I have sailed with Mark Treadwell on his Jenneau, but have not tried with my Mac. Not having an electric motor has put me off at present.
