Will A 26C fit on a 26X or M trailer?

Hello,
I've got a Mac 26C with an original imported trailer. Does anybody know if the 26C will fit on an X or M trailer? I'm assuming that the hull is a different shape and therefore I'm concerned about the clearance between the hull and the trailer mudguards / trailer frame. If you've had any experience of putting a 26C on a different trailer then please let me know, thank you.

I have my 26M off the trailer at the moment and could measure the distances from mudguard to mudguard if you want. I won't be able to do it until the weekend. I would have thought it would be OK. If you have a 26C trailer and want to compare measurements let me know the details of the ones you want

Hi Tim,
thank you but I think that there might be to many measurements to compare i.e. the convex curve of the hull of both models (C versus M) and the clearance between the mudguards. I have thought long and hard over how make an accurate 2D or 3D model and my best idea yet would to place a strong supermarket between Alum (my Mac) and the frame / mudguard. The next step would be to part fill said bag with expanding builders foam which over a 45 min period will multiply its volume by about 5 - 10 times and wait for it to set. When removed I should be able to cut a cross section of the foam which could then be easily traced onto a flat piece of paper. I guess if I don't get any response I'll have to try that and then try and a Mac on a trailer and repeat.
Kind regards,
Richard.

My Trailer is not a standard Mac one as I don't think the standard ones comply with the EU regulations. It was supplied by Mersea Trailers (http://www.merseatrailers.com) The only thing likely to be a problem will be (as you suggested) the distance between the wheel arches and the profile of the 2 cross members (covered in carpet on mine). Mersea may have details of the Mac profile. You could also fit rollers which will pivot to suit the profile. I was going to look at retro fitting these as it looks like it would be easier to get the boat all the way up on the trailer. I wasn't keen on the idea suggested in the manual of driving slowly and jamming your brakes on to make it move forward, although I'm sure it works.

Hi, I've just bought a converted trailer for my 26D from marlinspikemarine in Suffolk. It had a tatto 26 on previously.

Clearance wise it's fine, but you are right the hull shape is different. I pulled my D out of Windermere two weeks ago and had a very steady/wobbly ride home to Preston. It looks relatively simple to adjust the blocks to ensure a snug fit so I think it's a good buy. Can send some pics if you like, it's sat in the garden having it's long awaited bath.

I still have the original mac D trailer which has been with low wood water sports since Nov for repair and conversion. It's ok for launch, recovery and sitting in a boat park only. Would be happy to part with it.

Hello and thank you for your posts. I also would like to apologise for the delay in replying. To be perfectly honest I had got on with the business of sailing rather than trailering and had forgotten than I had ever raised this post. My present thoughts are that I probably need to look into this further during the winter months as the appeal of a 26x/m trialer has some merit. Once again, many thanks,
kind regards,
Richard.
