I was very disappointed that, despite our record numbers, so few Members came to the AGM last Saturday, especially after so many more recent Members told me last Summer that they hoped to join in when they realised it was not just a meeting to deal with (boring) things like rules, Committee members, finances etc, but more about Sailing, Messing about in Boats, "Boaty things" & meeting Friendly & Helpful People & kindred Spirits.
Come on Members - tell the Committee "Whadoyouwant - Whendoyouwanit? " & - most important - Join In !

I suspect that with the majority of members there is a finite amount of time that one can devote exclusively to one particular interest - even if it is that of being a MOA member! Despite the contrary intentions, I find that somehow I never seem to have sufficient time to devote to the pursuits that I promised that would be the primary objects of my leisure(?) time. Looking back overt the last twenty years or so I realise that I have not even come anywhere near to achieving the goals I set myself when "retirement" came into being! I have no doubt I speak for the majority when I suggest that there is a lot of unfilled ambitions left after the time allocated has run out! In my particular case "persons unknown" not only robbed me of a lot of gear (replaceable at a cost) and a sailing season (irreplaceable). We all do care about the Association but perhaps we are unable to demonstrate this in a more tangible way other than ensuring that our dues are paid in order that the Association may continue to exist. This is not an excuse, this is an explanation,
