Hello all,
Apologies, if this was discussed before, but in light of the recent newsletter I was wondering if there is a MOA YouTube channel with content contributions from members? If there is no channel at present what are the benefits of having one (e.g. sharing tips and tricks; mods, trips and experiences etc) or are there issues with having such a (public) YouTube channel (e.g. privacy)?
Best regards, Thor

Hi Thor
The issue for the MOA is finding someone with the enthusiasm and time to maintain any social network. Andy Leach has made a great effort in setting up a Facebook group which picks up a few new owners and he kindly directs them to the group as well.
We have taken the view that most social networks are a poor resource for storing long term information, they are more a method for getting an immediate response. I personally have a very low opinion of most blog sites because of the quality of most answers.
With our Web, we are in control of content, content ownership, privacy and how long the information remains available.
Fortunately we have been able to rely on Rick creating and maintaining our site for us. I have foolishly suggested that we could make improvements and failed completely to offer anything useful!!! Rick is however very open to suggestions. I consider myself reasonably computer literate but find some things difficult to negotiate. Remembering to press save after writing something, I prefer 'Send'. Finding how to send messages, i.e. start a topic, sending personal messages and searching for information are things that I didn't find intuitive.
At the end of the day we only have 100 plus members, only 38 responded to our questionaire and very few have time for sailing themselves without trying to run or be involved in a group.
If you have the energy to trailer sail and time you will meet up with a small but excellent group of people with the common interest of Macgregors.

In the last month or two I've been watching a couple of boat related you tube channels. One is Sailing Gemini and the other is I Love Sailing. They are very different in form but both are entertaining and are in UK waters. When I watch them I think, yes, I could do this and then I think about all the faff of constantly thinking 'where's my camera' and 'how much charge have I got' and then all the downloading, editing etc. However, it would be good to get more video on our website. We have many excellent stills and some video of launching, mast raising and Big Mac stuff, would broaden our content in a good way, I think. I have just about got the hang of loading stills onto the site but vide has defeated me. Something for the future.

We don't actually have support on the site for video (or audio), but it's possible to add it on. I just haven't looked at what's involved, something I should perhaps do!
