Now fixed , I would like to attach a Axillary outboard motor on the back for times like this but we're do fix it ? Has anybody put on Axillary outboard motor on the back , please I would like to know ??
Regards Chris Williams

Hi Chris, I've been looking at the idea and so far come up with making a motor T mount that would replace one of the rudders. Example in bolt one of the rudders with the rope attached still of course then replacing it with a what I would call a T mount then attach your small outboard and you will still have steering. As I say I'm looking at the idea and hopefully over winter be able to make one up in my workshop.
Hello Andrew thank you for your reply I have looked at this problem before but didn't come up with anything that works but after the incident last week I need a back up motor , if you come up with a solution I would be most welcome of a photo
Regards Chris Williams,
Hi Chris, I will let all members know how I get on, the biggest problem is how to control the throttle, just another bit of the puzzle I'm trying to solve. As I said before I'll be working on the idea over winter as I am still working on my X at the moment and want to get her in the water asap.
On line there are photos of quite a few American boats where they have mounted a small outboard outside a rudder on both X and M's.
Roly recently made a simple arrangement to attach an outboard to the boarding ladder in its verticle position you should find his pictures on our site. I believe he locks the motor and relies on the rudders for steering.
Jonathan
Hello Jonathan
Thank you for your reply most helpful I had a look at the pictures for roly Axillary outboard mount But couldn't find it , I will post a request to him for a photo
Thank again Chris
Hello Roly , Jonathan said you have on your boarding
Ladder a outboard bracket for your Axillary outboard motor is it possible to have a pictures of it , I couldn't find it on photo gallery
Regards Chris Williams
Hi Chris , I will look out the photos I have but meantime there were some in the magazine may be one or two issues ago. You can find copies on the website. Also possibly look up Rolys Mods on our site and you can get a link to a Dropbox of stuff I have done . To make to ladder mounted outboard holder I needed a standard outboard mount which I bolted to a piece of hardwood with a spacer block and then another hardwood piece to lock it in place using stainless bolts and wing nuts.
Roly
Hello Roly Thank you for your reply axillary outboard on the ladder looks like a good idea, I am going to follow your example and give it a try ,I am interested to know how other members cope if outboard breakdown happens when out sailing and have to enter a harbour or marine Regards Chris Williams
On my M I have made a contraption that slides up behind the ladder in its upright position and then sandwiches the ladder to fix it. I didn't want a hard to store box so it folds up.
However... this is mk1 and has not yet been tested and It is only for my 2hp 2 stroke... I am not expecting much from this arrangement in terms of motion, maybe get me to a downwind location in an emergency...
Hello M atthew, I also have a 2hp 2stroke outboard
I have it in my garage I am wondering if it will push a MacGreegor along or a wast of time putting it on even
As a axillary backup has anyone tried?
Regards Chris Williams
