Dear all,
we are considering a Kia Sorento 2.2ltr to pull our boat. Based on all the calculations that we've done, this looks like it will be fine providing we don't overload the car aswell. Does anyone in the group use a model Like this or can advise on whether this should meet the spec please? Best, Nic
Hi Nicola, we tow ours with a Skoda Kodiaq 2lt TDI 4x4 which tows really good. The Kia Sorento is really the equivalent to ours. If you can I would definitely look at the 4x4 version as some slipways can be rather steep & slippery especially when pulling the boat out. Remember that the nose weight on the tow hitch is a max of 100kg. I've seen a lot of trailers & caravans in the VOSA weighbridges over the last year. Check just inside the door for the weight plate & that will tell you all the axle, tow, & Train weight weights.

I towed my Mac 26 for many years with a 2007 Sorrento and it was perfect but then starting having problems with the limited slip 4x4 system so I decided to sell it and bought a vw transporter. I
The old Sorrento had a proper chassis and was rated to tow 3 tons but I believe the newer version is lighter weight. Automatic is best for ease of managing slipways and hills , and ideally 4x4 or auto AWD .

I have an 2016 2.2D AWD Kia Sorento Auto and it's fab on towing. Good choice. However its near the limit though so I wouldn't have the boat loaded and mind the 100kg for tow hitch
