I recovered my boat and noticed forestay has started fraying and can't work out why, does anyone have any ideas? Only replaced it a few months ago.

Frayed forestay

That's worrying. Has it been twisted at all? I would check the furling system to make sure there is nothing which might have caused it to twist.
I also think the forestay is vulnerable when raising/lowering the mast. It is very easy to kink it. I try to keep it as taught/straight as possible when rigging to try to avoid any unseen damage by having someone to hold the furling gear during the operation.
If it were me I certainly wouldn't use it again until the forestay was replaced, the consequences of failure is catastrophic.
Hi David,
forestay has been replaced, I have also up graded to a 4mm as there is room in plastimo for this to fit. Also taking Chris's advice from minimac I have made an inch shorter to tighten forestay. All raised and looking good, I will keep an eye on it
