Returning down to Scotland from the Orkney's on Richards Solo sale around Britain and Scotland in aid of Give the World a Shot and Orphans in the Wild.
22nd August Richard had to stay in Sanday until the winds and rain died down, her did get out onto the sand when the tide was out to photograph his McGregor boat, Pegasus, sitting on the sand whislt the tide was out. On 23rd August he sailed towards Ronaldsay but could only see 100-150 yards and was rather worried in case there were other boats coming along. It was 33.9 nmiles to Scapa Flow to see the block ships and visit the area with a lot of history that took place in WW11. https://www.marineinsight.com/.../8-facts-about-the.../. He anchored down in Burray overnight. 24th August, Reluctant to leave the Pentland Skerries and the magical islands he progressed through to Wick the following day, passing two lighthouses, with a very calm wind low and from the SSE, the sea was like a mirror. The tide changed at about 1400 hr so changed his speed from 8 to 5 knots, passing Noss Point down towards Wick Harbour where he went off for supper and a Tusker IPA, much loved by the expat Africans.

And now for some poetry:

Today was maintainance day
Bail out any water trying to stay
Dry out the damp bits
And clear out and try to be the ritz

My washing has all been dun
And my shopping not fun
Fuel full up and ready to go
Thank you Wick you helped me so

My bedding fresh to snuggle down
And go into Wick and enjoy the town
Karaoke on the morrow
To leave tonight would be sorrow

So I'll wait another day
And while the time away
Have a song for a change
Before i come back in to range

A visual of yesterday's route. Passing some big headlands including Rattray Head, familiar to listeners to the shipping forecast:

Although the high pressure

Although the high pressure system sitting over the UK has brought grey skies to many it is, I think, giving Richard favourable conditions. He is certainly making good progress down the east coast of Scotland. Yesterday, Peterhead to Stonehaven.

Richard moving south rapidly.

Richard moving south rapidly. First note of grumpiness, understandably so. Anchored over night in the River Dee - I cannot imagine that was too comfortable either. How about making Richard less grumpy today and drum up some sponsorship for him?

Fellow sailors have you ever noticed how visitors to harbours and marinas are generally allocated the worst berths.it happened to me at Stonehaven last night outer mole on the outside corner and the charge was £20 per night. Worst nights sleep so far Peggy was bunping the wall all night.
Loved Stonehaven lovley town. Spoilt by an under developed overpriced harbour, council owned . Maybe they should check and do a health and safty risk assesment on that berth taking into account id done seven hours at sea and am 74 years old into account. So come on aberdeen council how about it??! I wonder....

Moved today missed the gate times in Arbroath so went to Dundee tide was too low to access a marina so anchored in the river 47.2Nm total so far1650.7Nm.
