Throttle sticking

Hello

The throttle's stocking on my Yamaha 50. Any idea how much it would cost to replace the assembly? Or has anyone ideas how to fix? All advice gratefully received. Thanks.

What method do you use to

What method do you use to lube your cables? Mine have likewise never stuck, but have been mostly neglected.

Take the cover off, liberally

Take the cover off, liberally spray where the cables enter the housing. ,then work both throttle and gear change levers.

then for wintering I give most of the engine a light spray of W D 40.

A lot depends on what exactly

A lot depends on what exactly is sticking. Do you mean the control lever jams and you can't move it, or you move it to neutral and the engine keeps revving?

If the former I would try disconnecting the cables from the control and see if it still sticks. If it does it may be possible to strip it down, may just require greasing. If it moves freely then it's probably the cables, either lubricate or replace (they may be damaged).

If the latter then it's a problem of linkages in the engine. Taking the cover off and seeing how things move in response to the throttle lever should lead to the fault.

There is a good video on

There is a good video on YouTube giving instruction on clearing dirty/blocked cables. It involves using an air compressor. Worth looking at. The control lever assembly is well made and can be worked on if needed.
