Calm waters today and some tranquil cruising in occasional sunshine and not a single shower. Meandered thro the Cumbraes and up the east side of Bute: seals, gannets and porpoisy type things and some lovely scenery ashore. Up the east kyle of Bute to a swinging mooring outside the much lauded Colintraive hotel, pint to hand, shower to come and then a fish feast. It doesn't get much better than this. Great forecast for tmrw so all is good in MacGregor land. A man from ireland passed us on the pontoon this morning and said, nice boat mate, the best of the MacGregors. I couldn't possibly comment.
I was so late this year (like most in my Marina) but we seem to have caught up now as the 'hard' is almost empty and the pontoons are filling up. Did a shakedown last weekend, Glorious, but far too windy to sail on the Blackwater this weekend; off to Corfu next weekend on a charter to sail the Ionian Islands.
Sadly Quentin. We had to make a decision 're my mum to forgot Scotland this year and sail South coast. We were looking forward to it but maybe it will work out next year.
Ok Roly, I think when you do, you'll like it. We've had a sunny day with a NW wind. Breakfast in Tignabruich and then on the sails for 18 nm South to Brodick, on Arran. All thoroughly splendid. Our visitor mooring is well off shore and in our leaky Avon dinghy, a challenge to come. Back to Largs tmrw. Hoping for SErlies.
It has been magnificent Simon but all but over now having hauled Mrs Mac out of the water today and all ready for return trip in the morning. Nice sail today from Brodick to Largs with an excellent lunch stop in Millport on Cumbrae - the land that time forgot. Total contrast to yesterday's weather but very moody - and misty. This is my 4th trip to the Firth of Clyde and, to use a cliche, it just keeps giving. Most importantly, Nicola has enjoyed it too and there have been precious few perilous moments and yet some good adventures. Can't wait for the next one.....Windermere, I think.
We just launched Ptarmigan ( 1992 26S ) at the Loch Earn sailing club Saturday. Will be doing a few shakedown sails this week
Anyone wanting to come sail with us is welcome. .
