Rotostay jib halyard.

I took my Genoa off my 26s without checking how the halyard runs in the foil on the Rotostay. So now I’m confused as to the correct way to rig it. Does the halyard run inside the foil with a messenger? Any suggestions or images ?

Hi Leigh. If you are talking

Hi Leigh. If you are talking about the flexible kind of rotor furler yhat macgregor supplied then yes the halyard runs inside the track and terminates with a decored section to allow it to come outside yhe track and be tied to a shackle at base of the furler. You must attach a line when you pull down yhe foresail so you dont lose the halyard at top of furler.

Hope that helps

Hi Roly,

Hi Roly,

Thanks. I’m looking at some of the Rotostay manuals I’ve found online and I think I have the concept. Just one thing I need to make sure of. It appears that once the sail,is hoisted the halyard is secured to the drum and then lies just behind the foil, against the luff. I’d thought that possibly the halyard ran inside the foil alongside the luff tape. I think the more modern furling systems like the CDI do that. The halyard on my Rotostay has a hard eye so I can’t see that working. It looks like it’d have to lie against the sail at the forward edge of the luff.

Regards.

Hi Leigh

Hi Leigh

I think you're right, it does look like the halyard lies outside the foil. I guess this is quite an old model, as later ones appear to use a top swivel so the halyard can be secured on the mast.

The CDI has two slots, on each side of the foil. The sail goes in one, and the halyard returns inside the other one.
