Back up outboard

Hi all, spending loads of money!!!!!!!!

just agreed to purchase a Mac 26x so really looking forward to collecting it in 2 or 3 weeks time subject to weather, tides and confirmation at trial that engine and sails are Ok.

Being quite worried about breaking down at sea, we have purchased a small Seago dinghy that will take a 5Hp outboard. So my question is: does the Mac need a short or long shaft outboard to use as a back up, where would I fit it as I realise the Tohatsu will be too heavy to move at sea, and if it is a long shaft, will it be OK on the Dinghy which I assume would normally have a short shaft (just thinking about the extra torque on the transom) but of course we wouldn’t be racing around in the dinghy.

PS

Will a 5HP move the Mac? Obviously not expecting great speed but just to get back to safety.
