I know its been done on 26Xs but has anyone recently completed a hydraulic system for a 26M and if so any tips on which system they used and how it was to fit. I'm changing the steering over to rose jointed connectors and would like to update to hydraulic to remove the 'slack' in the worn bits on our 2005 26M. Stainless steel rose joints are easy source and fit to modified steering bars but not sure whats the most appropriate hydraulics set to use.
Does anyone have hands on experience that I can learn from.

Im considering installing the HyDrive system on my 2008M - it’s quite expensive but as I will sail mostly singlehanded I need to be able to leave the helm on occasions.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Hi John,
I'm assuming you don't already have an autopilot system on your M.
I also mainly singlehand and wanted a way to safely leave the wheel for working at the mast etc.
The solution for me was to install a Raymarine ST2000 autopilot directly onto one of the tillers.
I added wired and wireless remote controls which enables me to keep the boat on an apparent wind angle or compass course etc whilst away from the helm.
A great advantage is that this bypasses all the steering slack. Cost me just over £200 (not including the wind transducer)
