New feature - knowledge base

Hello all

I've added a new feature to the web site called Knowledge Base (this is not the forum section with the same name, but something new).

You can get to it from the Resources menu, and you must be logged in to see it.

It's a hierarchical index, in the same style as the User Guide, and is another way of getting to the most useful pages that are already on the site. So I haven't written lots of new pages (!), but provided a better way of getting to the most useful stuff that's already there.

Most of the pages are in the forum, but the index can include any site page. I'm slowly working my way through what is actually a bit of a gold mine of information, and adding the most useful content to the Knowledge Base index, so this is still a work in progress. I hope you like the results.

I may well retire or rename the said forum section at some point to avoid confusion.

I've just been adding some

I've just been adding some more pages to the Knowledge Base.

I hope you'll find this new indexing system helpful. It's amazing how much useful information we've accumulated in the forum over the years, it's been quite an education reviewing all the old posts!

One side effect of adding items to the KB index is that the site regards the affected pages as having been updated. As a result, if you go to the New & Updated Topics page in the forum section, you'll see a long list of these pages. I've been able to prevent the site sending out email notification of updates, but I can't stop them appearing in this list.

However, you can easily mark some or all as "read" by clicking the check-boxes on the left, and then the Mark as Read button. To check the boxes on all items, click the box in the black header bar.

There'll be more to come, I've so far only gone through 200 of the 700 or so postings we have in total!
