Spars

Hi folks. I recently had a mischief attempting to lower the mast with the boom still attached. For the record this doesn't work. I have damaged the gooseneck which I can repair but I have also done damage to The end of my boom. Does anyone know what spars the Macs use and if they are available in the U.K.? Thanks in advance.

It's only really the end cap

It's only really the end cap that I need which the gooseneck tube/pin travels through. Mine is a 26x

Hi James.  I'm afraid spares

Hi James. I'm afraid spares see not readily available but fortunately a lot of Mac bits are like other bits. not standard yacht fitting . why not try a dinghy sailing outlet like LDC .

Hmm, that's a casting if memory serves, I'm surprised you've managed to damage that and not the boom extrusion!

I don't know for certain, but that's always looked to me like a custom made part (i.e. a Mac special) rather than something off the shelf - so hard to replace.

How badly is it damaged, can you post a photo? (You can add an attachment below any forum post or reply).

Thanks guys.  Yes, it looks

Thanks guys. Yes, it looks like a standard casting with a hole machined out of it. I think at a push it could be repaired but I've gone for a new boom now as it came up on that magic auction site just at the right time. It's a nice Kemp number so I can hide all my reefing lines inside it!
