Everything on a boat is

Everything on a boat is fiddly. You need longer but thinner arms and be double jointed. You need longer and thinner fingers and again being double jointed helps.

I tore or it tore itself my roller reefing jib a couple of weeks ago. Being in a hurry I collapsed the mast in near gale conditions, took off the sail, then lashed everything down and took sail to the sail maker for repairs. I was soaking wet and freezing cold.

Started put it all back together yesterday when the heavens opened and a big wind arrived so lashed as much down as possible and retired. Woke up this morning aching all over. I now hanker for a jib that I can hank on and no messing. Again I was soaking wet and freezing cold.

And three hands would be useful as well.

All fun and games; pottering, repairing, modifying is almost as much fun as sailing. They have to be as it seems to me that more time is being spent on these activities than actually sailing the boat but then a lot of that time is spent chatting away to people on the next boat and comparing issues.

Enjoy.

Simon.

Hi James did you ever take

Hi James did you ever take the photos of your engine mod?

After having macarella for three years we have decided that we prefer sailing to speeding about so are seriously thinking of removing the 50 HP and replacing it with a couple of smaller engines this will use less fuel and give us a spare should one fail.

Has anybody else gone down this rout ?

Stay Safe Mike

I' be really interested in

I' be really interested in ghetto engine mounts. I have mounting for dinghy outboard on my pushkin but had thought may to construct a bracket that bolts quickly to boarding ladder so can use engine if required.

Simon how come you had to take your mast down? Did the furler break or just the sail?
