Despite having owned my 26X for some 11 years now, I have never got around to repairing three small sections of the strip which goes right around the hull. They were missing when I bought the boat, probably due to collision damage and it's about time I did something about it!
Previously when I have looked into it, the recommendation was to remove the whole lot and replace with a new strip, but I have never been able to source one. My preference is to repair rather than replace: does anyone know where appropriate material can be found? The cross-section is quite unlike any proprietary rubber extrusion I can find online.
Any advice gratefully received!

Maid of Kent 26X

Philip hello,
I'm the new guy so know nothing. However,I hope the collective knowledge of the Organisation will offer some solutions.
I tried to get an answer to this before but will have a go at 'piggy backing' on your missive.
I have acquired a 26x on which the rectangular MacGregor vinyls on the rear quarters are well faded.
Does anyone know of a supply source for replacements?
All suggestions gratefully received.
Chris Smart.
Phillip
I think you would have to try BWY (Blue Water Yachts) America to get a direct match. However have a look at sealsdirect.co.uk item PFU206 this looks as though it could do very well. It is expensive and comes in a 12m roll. Perhaps you could ask them for a sample to try.
Chris
Are you referring to the Macgregor logos, if so have a look at mike.clarke's chat 29/05/2020 heading Replacement Macgregor logos. Just type in a search for that on the site.
regards Jonathan
Hi Jonathan,
Thanks very much for that: I'll give them a try and report the outcome.
Much appreciated!
Philip
Hi Jonathan,
Thank you for your assistance in pointing me towards sealsdirect's website. They have sent me a small sample which seems to be even better than the original! The cavities in the cross-section of the seal accommodates the nut and bolt joints perfectly, whilst the whole fits snugly against the hull and superstructure, which the original did not.
I was intending to 'patch' the previous seal, but have now decided to replace it entirely, as it is now some 22 years old and rather 'tired'!
I shall update on progress, should anyone else be thinking of doing the same.
Regards,
Philip
Mike Clarke's practical advice is good. Also I note previous discussion about ordering from bwy vs a UK graphics company which was more expensive. I need new M logos so would be interested in the cost and time delay if ordering from bwy.

re Logo for 26x
Just to thank you for drawing my attention to the Resource Base.
I have been in touch with SAC Graphics, Enville St., Stourbridge, DY8 3TD. email sales@sacgraphics.co.uk
They have reproduced the MacGregor logo x2 at a cost of £39.90 inc. vat and p+p. They were quick and efficient
Hi Phillip
I'm very pleased that cross section is OK, I was only guessing from the details on the Sealsdirect site. it will be useful to make a record of it.
I removed and refitted the starboard rubbing strip on our boat last year and hope to do the same on my port side this year. I'll have a look at previous articles on the subject and possibly put up an article on how I tackled it.
Jonathan
I had done rubbing strip both sides in the past . I'm sure I've written about it on a thread somewhere. Can give my experience again if interest.
Roly
Could be of interest! I did not want any joints: how did you do it?
Annoyingly the seals direct strip is only available in 12, 15 and 30 metre lengths. Having measured my 26X, it comes up at 8250mm from the transom end to the mid-point of the bow.
If I wanted to do it in one strip, as the original, I'll have to go for the 30m at £285.55 and have 13.5m left over! Have not yet spoken to the suppliers to see if I can get a more appropriate length.
Regards,
Philip
For those who are interested, I attach a couple of shots of the sample compared to the original seal
