Hello,
We are looking for a boat cover for our 26X.
Are there any ready made or can you recommend someone who makes them, good quality & reasonably priced. I've seen some crazy prices.
We may go for an over the mast (when resting) at least that will run the rain etc. off. Thank you

I see you have had no replies, Laura. Your question seems to have stumped the experts.
A long time ago, one of our members was thinking about setting up a business manufacturing such covers but it never took off and he is no longer a member.
Maybe a 'tarp' over the boom and fixed to the trailer, as you suggest, will work. Good Luck.
My Mac was quite dry inside after the winter but with wind and rain in the wrong direction water can get ito the cabin and make a bit of a mess.
I wish you well in your search and maybe you will become the expert adviser in this field.

I just use tarps over the mast.
The problem is, I think, that any tailored cover would be too snug and restrict air circulation.
I have a fitted cover that has been brilliant. I can't remember the manufacturer right now, but the company is in the States.

I just use a tarp. A word of warning though: I got a phone call during the high winds from the equestrian centre where we store Star. Star had sailed on her own approx 3 meters over the 4 chock's. I had left the stern open and tied up the front of the trailer with tarp thinking because the stern was close to the building I could maintain access. Big mistake, 10.00 at night in a howling Gale moving the tarp to seal the stern did not make happy!
Got it...

expensive, but it has lasted for 7 years

Hi Laura
In the latest edition of the MacGregor Sailor you will see the article I wrote on sheeting up for the winter.
My M has been stored this winter right next to the river Medway at Gillingham where there is little protection from winds from the North round to East. You can see that the sheet I used was long enough to completely cover the boat and was laced up at bow & stern. Using elastic bungee's to secure the sheet to the tension wires has proved to work well with no problems throughout this winter.
Today I removed the cover in readiness fr raising the mast, whilst there had been some slight damage to the cover where I had not adequately protected it from all protrusions it will certainly do for many more seasons. The sheet I used cost just under £100 and the bungees about £20
I hope this helps
John
If at all possible find some undercover storage, as the weather will destroy any tarp.
I bought two half size tarps as they are easier to fit than one large one, but they have been shredded by the wind. Your motor will benefit from indoor storage ,as I had two Mac's - one stored in a barn and the other outside,
The one stored indoors was no problem, the outdoor one, suffered extensive motor problems.
regards to all.
