I just took our boat out of the water for the winter and have started on my list of jobs.
One of these was sorting out the mast electrics as nothing was working.
I had traced things back and it turned out that, whilst the current was getting as far as the connector just above the through-deck fitting, it wasn't getting any further. Since I hadn't planned any night sailing this year I left it til now to sort out.
I replaced the connector (4 pin) and waited for dark tonight to see what the result would be.
Good news was that the 360deg anchor light at the mast-head was fine AND the foredeck light, at the hounds, was also lighting up when I switched it on.
However, when I switched on the Steaming light, which I was expecting to see at the along with the anchor light at the mast-head, I didn't see any result.
My question is - "where would you expect to see this steaming light located; am I looking in the wrong place?"

Hi Mike
Your lights have been extended from standard by a previous owner. As standard, a 26 has no anchor light nor deck light, only a steaming light on the mast. This is located where you describe the foredeck light.
My guess is this has been replaced by a combination unit, comprising a forward-facing steaming light and a downward deck light. Steaming lights are not normally fitted at the mast-head, it's too high for effective visibility.
Have a close look at the deck light fitting to see if it incorporates a steaming light as well. If it's not working it's probably the bulb (as always!).

Many thanks Rick, that makes sense I was just looking in the wrong place:)

Hi Mike , on my 26 X the steaming light is on the front of the mast-about 2 feet below the spreaders. Regards David Phillips.
Thanks David, yes that's where my fore-deck light is so I'm guessing that Rick is correct and that I'll find the steaming light is incorporated in it.
It remains a learning curve for me; but a very enjoyable one none-the-less, thanks in no small way to you guys!
