I have recently purchased my 26M, and know that my Genoa needs some work done. I am based in Cambridgeshire (probably no chance to get the work done locally). Any advice for quality work at a reasonable cost would be appreciated.

I have had a quick and good priced repair done by a sail repairer in queen annes battery at plymouth but I cant recall the name.
otherwise Doyle at Shamrock quay in Southampton made many of the original m sails and have repaired for me in past.

I know and have used a sail maker in Greenwich. He is also an RYA accredited trainer and a well known member of my local yacht club.
There are 2 Macs currently based in Greenwich Yacht Club where this sail maker has his loft. Mine, a 26M, is at Gallions Point Marina, the other side of the Barrier and on the North side of the Thames.
I can give you his details if you want them to get a quote. I doubt he will give you a discount for mentioning my name but I have been very satisfied with his work and he is a nice guy.

Thanks for the information. I think this could be a good option.
I have some electrical work to do first and need to see how much that will cost before dealing with the sails. I had my first foray into boat electrics when a dead short burned up some wires upon first flick of the master switch. The wires behind the panel must have been worn and/or loosened by the 2 hour trailer trip home.
Once that is sorted, I will be looking at my sails and, if it is all right, I will ask for this gentleman's contact details.

You could do a lot worse than contact Grant Piggott of GP Sails Ltd, 4 Beaulieu Road, Hamble Le Rice, Southampton Tel: 07900 443538; a one man business, he washes, services and repairs my McGregor 26X sails every year and does a splendid job - £98.88 last time. He will do it all by post if you want to avoid travelling.
