Hi,
has anyone changed the 1 piece plastic companionway with a 3 piece acrylic version ?
I am thinking about, and was wondering if there are some out there

there's plenty of the us lot have done this mod, I'm working very slowly up using wooden slats for the first two, then acrylic/perspex for the top one. Anything is better than the standard horror!

Are we talking about the washboard? If so, what you have done Bjorn sound like an excellent idea, and easier to stow as well.

At the AGM Jon Dane showed his 3 piece acrylic washboard, he mentioned he would send the plans if you emailed him.
I have already asked for the drawings.

Funnily enough, following Johns' demo of his washboard at the AGM, I have had the one piece abomination on my bench this afternoon, to measure the size, and will have a look around this week to see what is available in the way of Acrylic off-cuts of the right size, or failing finding an off-cut, will probably pay full price for a piece of the right size. it doesn't look too hard to do, though I doubt it will look as good as Johns handywork. :oops:

Guess who knows where there is a large piece of perspex up for grabs?? Not smoked, but old stock. I'm going to go get it at some point. Bearing in mind the cost of this stuff, in about 10 days I shall be spending time with my lovoly friend in his workshop where we'll hammer out a stainless 3 section 'board. could be cool to have the center bit interchangeable with perspex? We replaced our washboard with a 3 pice made from plexiglass / polycarbonate. Stronger than the original as it's virtual unbreakable. We could not get smoked so got clear and added one way tint from a motor factors. Looks great and easy to store. We can also leave out the bottom or top section to vent airflow.
However not cheep as plexiglass cost €80.
