We'll here I am again , year two now , my knowledge base rising slowly .my question is to 26c owners . What are the two black threaded instruments at the base of the stern external locker? They have cables coming out of the top of them, I noticed when my boat was in the water last season , both of them were leaking slightly. On closer inspection I could see that the rubber seal had spread slightly. I tried to tighten the threaded lock nut ,but found I was only spreading the washers further. In order to renew the washers I will need to cut the wires coming out the top of them in order to remove the lock nut, as the wires seem to be moulded into them. I have looked at owners manuals but they don't go into instrumentation , is there a more comprehensive manual I can purchase? Thanks andrew

I'm not a 26c owner but I guess the first question would be do you have a depth display. Could the device be the depth sensor?
2nd question - have you tried tracing the wires? Where do they go?
Maybe post a photo of the device - perhaps start a competition to "name this device"??
Anyway, I'm sure we will be able to help one way or another

Cutting the wires is probably not a good plan as they may not be straightforward to reconnect. It may be better to undo the nuts, re-seat the sensors with sealant, and re-tighten using the existing washers (with the boat out of the water of course!).

Thanks mike and rick, One of the instruments has a small propeller , so I'm guessing this is to tell my speed , the other is just slightly concave , with nothing on it, could be depth finder? My instrument panel doesn't have any cables coming out of it , they all seem to be disconnected . I will try and put photo graphs online

Instruments at the sole of the lazarette ... could be the sensor for your depth sounder and one for speed/distance log perhaps ? Pictures really would be great, ideally from both sides of the hull. I can take large volume pictures on my home email account, if you want to fwd them there than I can put them into dropbox and put a link here for it.
