Has anyone found anything good to restore the black coloured areas on the foredeck. My 2006 'M' is beginning to look decidedly grey around the gills!

Black Areas On Deck

I got my local car body shop guy to call by and polish up the black using ordinary auto compounds. Of course he used a proper low speed angle grinder with polishing bonnets - not those cheapo Halfords things which just don't have the oomph.
A mobile car valet person would be able to do it.
In between time I generally use Autoglym caravan cleaner and Autoglym polish

The problem with using cutting compounds, which is what I assume Mike's car guy used, is that they restore the shine by grinding the surface down. You can't do this indefinitely!
OTOH wax polish fills in the microscopic pits, also creating a shine, so valeting is usually a mix of both. Wax doesn't last that well though, so you have to keep using it.
I'm about to splash out on some stuff called Polyglow, which fills the surface without cutting, but is supposed to be much more durable than wax. My X is 15 yrs old and there's just no shine left on both black & white bits!
I'll report back when I've had a go with it, just hope we get some friendly weather this side of Xmas so I can get it done.
