hi again, i am still trying to get used to my mac26c . i am berthed in a tidal sea harbour ,with not a lot of berthing space. i have a 9.9 honda engine based in the engine well ,the engine throttle arm is quite short , so i have to sit down to operate . i have tried locking the engine so it doesnt move from side to side and use the tiller to steer ,and i have tried loosening the engine and lifting the rudder so steering with the throttle arm. both with not great success please help and give me your advice and experience.

Hi again,
you should have much better control by steering with the motor rather than motoring and steering with the rudder. I wonder, though, as you have a 9.9 hp outboard, that the outboard powerhead is too big for the engine well. It (or the outboard tiller) will hit the sides of the well and you cannot turn a wide enough angle to steer. I had the same problem and this was the main reason I changed my old trusty 8hp 2 smoke to a 6hp recently.
Fair winds,
I.
