Help with sizing an Outboard Motor

I am thinking about buying an outboard for my tender and would appreciate any advice on horse power etc. This outboard could also operate as a standby or insurance to get me out of trouble if the 50 hp Yamaha engine failed. There is a 2.5hp 4 stroke Suzuki on the market which weighs about 13kg. It is also available in short and long shaft.
Should I go for short or long shaft and maybe go for more horse power as the 2.5hp Suzuki mentioned above might not have enough ooomph to push Sushi 26X

I was on the same dilemma here.
Mi option was a 5 hp.
If mi 50 fails I will REALLY need it...
But you must check your tender max motor capacity.
And buy the max it can take
cheers

Many thanks Jose
I think I will probably plump for a 4.0hp outboard
I'm presently waiting on technical advice from the tender supplier to confirm what max weight or horse power can be safely accommodated on the motor mount
